Over 52 years ago, my dad, who was widowed during my Junior year in high school when my mother died of cancer, married Luella Miles White and adopted her 7 children...6 girls and 1 boy. Luella passed away in 2002 after 43 years of marriage.
Here we are at daddy's funeral in 2004: myself, Linda, Diane, Irene, Kathy, Mark, Paulla, and Sandy...minus the two children born to them in their marriage: Tamy (who somehow missed being in this photo) and Toni who was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 13.
And here we are again (including Tamy) last weekend without Linda whose funeral we attended. As usual, along with the sorrow of losing a sister, was the joy of being with family who are spread out all over and don't get together often enough. So it was a joyous occasion as well.
