OREGON WEEKEND

Friday we took off for a quick trip to Rich's with a big surprise on the Oregon side of the Columbia River...frozen waterfalls, icy roads, and 3 accidents. The mountains and trees had shielded the freeway from sunlight to melt the ice. Needless to say it took us longer than we'd anticipated.

Our main purpose was to see Rich play indoor soccer in his adult co-ed league on Friday, and the boys in their youth league on Saturday. Good photos were impossible as we had to shoot through the plexiglass, but Rich is in the white socks and white sleeves.

Saturday's games were interesting as Redden and Austin's teams played each other. There were a few skirmishes on the floor between the two of them, and we hardly knew who to root for. Then Austin's team played another game and since the opposing team was short of players, Redden was asked to play with them. So we had still ANOTHER game between brothers.

Here's Austin in the forefront...

...and again in the white socks.

This shot is Redden as goalie...

...and here's a little more action. I think this was as close a shot as we ever got of any of them.

Here's the two of them. Final outcome? Austin's team won both games and Redden scored twice in the second game. They are good little players.

Austin went to a tie kwan do birthday party where they "broke boards." Here's a demonstration.

What an amazing kid!!

We met Pam and family for lunch...here's a rare photo of her on the right.

Getting ready for the Blue and Gold Banquet is Rich, Redden, Mom, and baby girl, 7 months along. So pregnant ladies are nothing unusual for Jessi.

Like mother, like daughter.
This expression: "Oh, well...it's just another girl."

Redden and mom after he "pins" her.

Proud dad after the traditional face painting.

Each symbol has a special meaning...can't remember them however.

Silverware was wrapped in napkins tied with pipe cleaners, but that was only a secondary usage.
Coming home Saturday night, we drove on the Washington side of the Columbia...a little slower but much safer roads.
